HONDA: Dream 50 In 1962, Honda released two types of high-performance production racers, the road version and the race-specification version of the CR110, which inherited the technology of the RC110 works racer. The race spec model was designed for use by clubmen who competed in races, while the road version was designed for use on public roads, and a racing kit (Y-parts) were sold separately for amateur riders who are interested in racing. In June of the same year, the race spec bike participated in the Isle of Man TT race for the first time and finished the race in 9th place. After that, the CR110 participated in races in Japan and around the world, demonstrating a potential that was as close as possible to a works machine. At the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, many motorcycle fans asked for a verse of the CR110 to be sold. Honda re-engineered the world's smallest 4-stroke, DOHC, 4 valve Engine in the world and introduced the Dream 50 in 1997 which was 35 years after the introduction of the CR110. Honda knew when they made the Dream50 that they could not make money on the model no matter how many they sold. But it didn’t matter, as it was more important to commemorate the CR110. They were only sold in Japan. |
